چکیده
Single-particle dynamics of the Anderson impurity model are studied using both the numerical renormalization group (NRG) method and the local moment approach (LMA). It is shown that a ‘two-self-energy’ description of dynamics inherent to the LMA, as well as a conventional ‘single-self-energy’ description, arise within NRG; each yielding correctly the same local single-particle spectrum. Explicit NRG results are obtained for the broken symmetry spectral constituents arising in a twoself-energy description, and the total spectrum. These are also compared to analytical results obtained from the LMA as implemented in practice. Very good agreement between the two is found, essentially on all relevant energy scales from the high-energy Hubbard satellites to the low-energy Kondo resonance.

A NUMERICAL RENORMALIZATION GROUP APPROACH FOR AN ELECTRON-PHONON INTERACTION
A finite chain calculation in terms of Hubbard X-operators is explored by setting up a vibronic Harniltonian. The model conveniently transformed into a form so that in the case of strong coupling a numerical renormalization group approach is applicable. To test the technique, a one particle Green function is calculated for the model Harniltonian

Within the framework of the thermal wave model, an investigation is made of the longitudinal dynamics of high energy charged particle beams. The model includes the self-consistent interaction between the beam and its surroundings in terms of a nonlinear coupling impedance, and when resistive as well as reactive parts are included, the evolution equation becomes a generalised nonlinear Schröding...

A comparative study of the numerical renormalization group and non– crossing approximation results for the spectral functions of the U = ∞ Anderson impurity model is carried out. The non–crossing approximation is the simplest conserving approximation and has led to useful insights into strongly correlated models of magnetic impurities. At low energies and temperatures the method is known to be ...

We present a new method to calculate directly the one-particle self-energy of an impurity Anderson model with Wilson's numerical Renormalization Group method by writing this quantity as the ratio of two correlation functions. This way of calculating Σ(z) turns out to be considerably more reliable and accurate than via the impurity Green's function alone. We show results for the self-energy for ...

– We develop a local moment approach to static properties of the symmetric Anderson model in the presence of a magnetic field, focussing in particular on the strong coupling Kondo regime. The approach is innately simple and physically transparent; but is found to give good agreement, for essentially all field strengths, with exact results for the Wilson ratio, impurity magnetization, spin susce...
